Cooperation between Ludwig von Mises School of Economics and National Pedagogical Dragomanov University

On 25 November 2021, Rector of the National Pedagogical Dragomanov University in Kiev (NPU) Acad. Prof. Dr. Viktor Andrushchenko welcomed Baron Rudolph Andries Ulrich Juchter van Bergen Quast, CEO of Swiss Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands and CEO of the European Chamber of Digital Commerce. Juchter van Bergen Quast was invited by Prof. Dr. h.c. Moritz Hunzinger, Member of Supervisory Board of NPU, to visit the University together.

The parties discussed the incorporation of international online learning platforms into the current educational structure. In particular, specific plans were made to involve NPU in the development of the Ludwig von Mises School of Economics (MSE). This institute of business education is an activity of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands, which was formed in 1933 by a group of entrepreneurs and government officials. Inspired by the liberal thoughts of Mises, MSE promotes an economic system based on private property and free markets—or what one might call economic freedom. It is MSE’s mission to utilize multidisciplinary expertise and global reach to train future leaders, provide a comprehensive educational program, and catalyze innovative research, all to address sustainable development in the 21st century.

Ludwig Heinrich Edler von Mises (1881 – 1973) was an economist, historian, logician, and sociologist. Mises wrote and lectured extensively on the societal contributions of classical liberalism. Mises was born to Jewish parents in the city of Lemberg, Galicia, Austria-Hungary (now Lviv, Ukraine). He is best known for his work on praxeology, a study of human choice and action.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. h.c Hunzinger has launched important initiatives for increasing the visibility of the NPU in Europe by means of events planned at NPU for Spring 2022.

Juchter van Bergen Quast has recently been appointed as an Honorary Doctor of the Institute of Agroecology and Natural Resources of NAAS and has visited both institutions during his stay in Kiev. At NAAS, he gave his lecture “From scientist to entrepreneur: a roadmap”. The lecture was followed by a presentation by Jan Peter de Jong, country manager Ukraine atf Microsoft and director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, about the value that Microsoft adds to the Ukrainian economy.
