Dr. Jelle Zijlstra Award 2021 Laureates in the Field of Market Efficiency | Nxchange and its CEO, Marleen Evertsz

Dr. Jelle Zijlstra was the former Prime Minister of the Netherlands, President of the Central Bank of the Netherlands, and President of the Bank for International Settlements in Switzerland, with long-standing engagement with the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands. In honour of this renowned economist, we recognize international leaders whose work champions economic national growth, generational-shifting innovation, global collaboration, or charitable commitments which dramatically improve the quality of life for society.

CEO and Co-Founder Marleen Evertsz of Nxchange has a proven track record in leading innovative fintech companies. Being at the forefront of digitizing and trading physical assets with GoldRepublic since 2010, Marleen is now dedicated to building fully regulated, trading platforms for issuing and listing tokenized securities and digitized assets on Nxchange and GoldRepublic in close collaboration with European regulators, ABN Amro Clearing bank and the Rabobank.

The size of the digital assets market is growing fast. Institutional interest is exploding, and the still limited market size is increasingly viewed as an opportunity for growth rather than a weakness. With large infrastructure players from traditional finance such as CME, ICE and Fidelity present, we are witnessing a rapid maturation of the digital asset market.

Bitcoin was launched in the midst of the financial crisis of 2008 and was presented as an alternative to the established and centralized financial system. However, as bitcoin has grown ever larger, traditional players have entered the market and are now part of the digital asset space. This is clearly illustrated by the product offerings from leading financial infrastructure providers, such as Nxchange.

Nxchange is the first fully regulated European Securities Exchange for (tokenized) securities and digitized assets, allowing real-time trading, clearing and settlement, 24/7 and peer-2-peer trading. Nxchange is a comprehensive trading platform developed in close cooperation with the AFM (the Dutch Authority for Financial Markets) and holds a Regulated Market license, a MTF license and an Investment firm license issued by the Dutch Ministry of Finance and the AFM. Nxchange works closely together with European Regulators and has set up strong partnerships with traditional and new players in the capital market such as ABN Amro Clearing bank, Rabobank, Euroclear and Dusk Network.

Nxchange provides a global capital market that supports the trade of any object of value. It is a new generation stock exchange for direct trading in securities between companies and investors. Nxchange makes it possible to place and trade securities on a regulated platform without intervention of a bank or broker being required. This is a key consideration for the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands to issue this year’s Dr. Jelle Zijlstra Awards in the field of Market Efficiency to Nxchange and to its CEO, Marleen Evertsz, for her personal commitment.
