On 17 May 2023, the CEO of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in The Netherlands, Bob Juchter van Bergen Quast, had a virtual meeting with the MD of the Climate Neutral Group, Mr René Toet. On top of the agenda was the corporate urgency to make global contributions to sustainable development.
The world is already experiencing climate change. Extreme weather, periods of drought, heavy rainfall and storms make us aware of the urgency. The momentum is now. The strength of the Climate Neutral Group is to translate ambitions into a concrete plan and action – from A to Zero CO2. You do not only reduce your impact on the climate through reduction and offsetting but you also contribute to the realisation of various SDGs. Climate Neutral Group works with the best climate projects for offsetting which are VCS or Gold Standard certified. The Gold Standard certification was developed by a group of NGOs led by the World Wildlife Fund to support projects that, in addition to reducing CO2, also make a measurable contribution to sustainable development in developing countries. All Climate Neutral Group’s climate projects always benefit the local population.
In September 2015, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by the United Nations. They guide governments and organisations in operating more sustainably and contribute to achieving those goals elsewhere in the world. The SDGs were built on the Millennium Goals and other international sustainability agreements. While the Millennium Goals focused on poverty alleviation in developing countries, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with the SDGs is a global and comprehensive sustainability agenda.
